Men's Health

It is considered that men's health is about andrology and urology, but in fact the issue is much broader.

Testosterone is a hormone which makes a man. Testosterone in male body works on male genitalia, prostate gland, seminal vesicles, epididymis, penis; activates metabolism of fats, proteins, cholesterol, microelements; normalizes spermatogenesis, stimulates sexual manifestations and other processes.

Testosterone mainly has its effects on formation and activation of male libido, sexual arousal and also intensity of orgasm. With age (starting from 30 years old) in male body testosterone level decreases. At this time, do start problems with health, muscles stop growing, and instead, grows belly and do appear wrinkles.

Testosterone deficiency has negative effects on almost all organs and systems in male body. Testosterone is called “hormone of happiness” and its deficiency affects not only physical and emotional condition of a male – he experiences bad mood, depressions and unmotivated pessimism. Also, gradually decreases the ability for intellectual thinking along with working ability and physical endurance, and besides this, sexual activity lowers.

Most men note symptoms of sexual disorder such as erectile dysfunction. Most often men think it is sign of male weakness or the result of aging. However, in fact, erectile dysfunction is the result of vessel walls disorder in the whole male body and not only in penis. Major changes occur in next systems: cardiovascular, urogenital, central nervous system, musculoskeletal system, and skin. Coronary disease signs show that it is primary stage of circulation disorder not only in pelvic organs but also in whole cardiovascular system and other organs. Unfortunately, usually patients seek doctor's advice quite late.

What symptoms should put you on the alert?

  • excessive sweatiness
  • frequent palpitation
  • easy fatigability
  • disturbance of memory
  • production loss
  • sleeping disorder
  • hair loss
  • wrinkles
  • sexual activity lowering
It is very important to stop timely testosterone level drop in order to slow down developing damage of vessels. You should see doctors (andrologist, cardiologist) regularly for preventive examinations.

Sex Drive In Men

One in four men in the world over 40 faces problems with potency. However, no one would uncover this secret to public.

Male may be triple Noble prize winner, but not less achievement he considers good potency and ability to maintain active sex life till aging. And for a good reason one of male organs is called manhood. “If the manhood does not work, most men see no point in life at all.” - declared Jan Erdly from European Association of Urology on Men's Health World Congress in Milano.

What differs real man from just a male is hormone testosterone. Simply put, male drive directly depends on rate of this hormone in the blood. Normally, male body produces several milligrams of testosterone daily which is enough to maintain and work on the whole body. Testosterone also is responsible for secondary sexual characteristics such as hair growth on face and body and base voice.

Testosterone is a key hormone in sex drive (libido), erection, sexual behavior and semen formation. The hormone testosterone also controls the development of muscles because it stimulates protein production in them. Without testosterone cannot work cardiovascular, nervous, circulatory and urinary systems in male body.  Testosterone has an effect on working capacity, creative potential, memory, mood and even character of a male.

Starting from 30 years, rate of testosterone lowers by 1 – 2% each year. As a result, by 50 – 55 years in male remains only half of the amount which he had in his youth. Some specialists say that the less testosterone is left, the shorter path to death is, because there exists direct connection between the testosterone rate and hypertension, diabetes, coronary disease and other diseases.

However, potency lowering and failures in sexual life (erectile dysfunction) worry males more than hypertension. And exactly fear of impotency makes males go to the doctor. However, most males first try to solve problem by themselves by following recommendations of their friends, and as a result other problems are added to the existing ones.  In women the situation is different. When women feel bad, they go to the doctor at once. Generally, they have no time to be ill, because they must take care of children.

Men must go to the doctor at once they realize they have erection problems. Here you must know that problems with erection talk about vessels condition. In male penis vessels are most subtle and narrow, that is why their work is most significant. Erectile dysfunction shows that male already has problems with cardiovascular system. Also latent diabetes is not excluded. So here the urologist would help. He would recommend to make test on hormones and sugar, consult cardiologist.

Male Libido Facts

What should modern male make to maintain his sexual drive for a longer time?

Andrologists claim that each male has sexual potential for 15 women and not just for one. They say this reserve of sexual drive helped humanity to survive.

Potency decrease in 60% cases is connected with various diseases, 30% cases are caused by fears and incorrect partner's behaviour, 10% cases have mixed causes.

Wine arouses desire but makes it impossible to realize it. 50 gramms of strong drink daily leads to potency decrease. To assimilate alcohol, liver actively uses male hormone testosterone and turns it into female hormone estrogen. With age, potency decreases in males, instead - their breast increases.

Nicotine kills desire. The experiment, which involved 3,000 men aged 25 – 35,  revealed that smokers make sex fewer than 6 times a month, and in comparison with them, non-smoker males make sex two times more often.

Life behind the wheel and daily road jolting lead to disturbed circulation in genitalia and congested prostate inflammation. When you have no possibility to drive on good roads, you must choose good and comfortable cars which would protect you from unnecessary vibration.

Males should not consume more than 100 gramms of soymeals daily because they contain phytoestrogens which are similar to female hormone estrogen. Their excesses aggravates sperm quality and may cause infertility.

Researchers from Harvard claim that chemicals of phthalate group containing in perfumes and creams may cause impotence. Use organic cosmetics without chemicals.

Testoserone production achieves maximum at 25 – 30 years. With age it reduces by 1-2% annually and by 80 years is 40% of 25-th year old male! But it never goes down to zero!

Sperm of males who use cell phones more than four hours daily loses 30% of its best properties. Microwaves radiated by cell phones reduce amount and movability of sperm.

Only 10% of males with potency problems go to the doctor. Other 90% refuse from sexual life considering themselves impotents. However, andrologists say that there are thousand and one ways to bring back sexual drive!
