What Does Testosterone Do To Male Body?

Testosterone is a key male sex hormone which is produced in male testes and suprarenal gland. Testosterone is responsible for all major male body functions. In particular, testosterone makes male a male. It may be hardly believed that this hormone is of significant importance for male health. Many years ago it was proved that testosterone is most important element in the body which differs a male from a female (however, small amount of this androgen is secreted in female ovaries).

Presence of testosterone in the body influences, first of all, on male external appearance (muscles, hair on face and body, voice timbre). Also this androgen is responsible for sexual development in boys, their sexual desire towards opposite sex, and influences on some male character features. For example, strong fighting spirit, motivation, self-confidence and masculinity directly depend on the amount of testosterone in blood.

Testosterone level lowering may result in  despondency, depression, shiftlessness and breakdown. It is quite logically that successful males who achieved great results in business or politics may show high level of male hormone in blood.

Starting from 20 years testosterone level in male body lowers year after year. That is why in some European countries men over 45 years every three months get testosterone injection in order to stimulate well-being and potency. Andrologists advice men over 40 years to undergo examinations at least once a year.
